The Future of C4 #

In 2026 the Computational Biology and Informatics (CBI) Shared Resource of the HDFCCC entered a collaboration with Academic Research Services (ARS). As part of that collaboration ARS would help support the system administration of the C4 HPC system and the room maintenance of the Diller data center.

As part of the arrangement, no new servers will be purchased to add to C4. Further, all equipment that is over ten years from being purchased will eventually be removed from the system. There is, however, no end date for C4, unlike with for the Wynton HPC environment. There is also no plan to shut down the Diller data center.

Users are encouraged to switch to CoreHPC and other offerings from the Facility for Advance Computing (FAC) for needs that cannot be met by C4 or more generally by the CBI.
